UAE-based AIM Foundation chairman and US Sioeng Group
chairman visit Federation of Shenzhen Commerce
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, which has achieved innumerable results in cooperation over the decade and seen a combined investment of close to USD1tln.
On September 11, Mr. Dawood, chairman of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Dubai UAE and chariman of the AIM Global Foundation, Ted Sioeng, chairman of the U.S. Sioeng Group, Chen Yongkang, chairman of Shenzhen Hengtaixin Holding Group Co., Ltd., Mariam Gao, director-general of the AIM China and Isabella Yin, deputy secretary general of the Digital Intelligence Commission of AIM China visited Shenzhen Commerce Service Center. The guests met with Zhuang Lixiang, founding director of the Federation of Shenzhen Commerce, Lin Hui, executive director of the Federation of Shenzhen Commerce and business representatives from Huineng Photoelectric Technology, Eddid Holdings, Meegou Industry, Jinjiang Pest Control Operation and Glass Baron. The attendees exchanged opinions on the in-depth integration between the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of the two areas (the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Pilot Demonstration Area of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics) and discussed the ways to build bridges for business cooperation in countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and regional development.
According to Mr. Dawood, the AIM upholds cooperation featuring sustainability, coordination, exchanges and linkage, and the visit to the Federation of Shenzhen Commerce was aimed at strengthening communication based on well-established cooperation to work together to explore more cooperation models for companies in the Greater Bay Area to seek business presence in the Middle East and the UAE on the principle of mutual benefit and win-win results.
Since its inception, the UAE-based AIM, an event launched by the AIM Foundation, has emerged as a top investment platform in the Middle East, whose influence increases exponentially every year, drawing the participation of conglomerates from all sectors in 175 countries and regions.
“Make a better China story. Make a better story of Shenzhen commerce in order to make Shenzhen commerce’s voice better heard.” Ted Sioeng spoke highly of Shenzhen’s commerce culture and showed willingness to help disseminate Shenzhen’s commerce culture on the international arena to enable the overseas Chinese to see the strength of Shenzhen commerce. He added that he would like to assist Shenzhen-based companies in tapping into the ASAEN market and to join hands with the Federation of Shenzhen Commerce to help Shenzhen enterprises advance the “going out” campaign.
Ted Sioeng, Indonesia-born overseas Chinese leader, serves as honorary chairman of the Meizhou Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the chief representative of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee in Indonesia. He has long been passionate about public charity and donated money and supplies to his ancestral country and hometown. He strives to run well the International Daily News to make China voice better heard. Furthermore, he travels between China and Indonesia year in year out to host or attend meetings and promotional events of all sorts to deepen friendship and push forward the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Director Zhuang Lixiang extended warm welcome to international friends and said that the Federation of Shenzhen Commerce, known as an influential social organization in Shenzhen, works as a bridge between governments and businesses. In response to China’s “going out” initiative and the Belt and Road Initiative, the Federation of Shenzhen Commerce attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchanges. Through the visit, it is hoped to deepen mutual understandings and promote bilateral cooperation.
According to director Lin Hui, the Federation of Shenzhen Commerce has been ramping up efforts to promote Shenzhen commerce globally to help Shenzhen-based enterprises go out. This May, Shenzhen sent a delegation to Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE to attend the AIM events. Another delegation will shortly leave for Southeast Asia and the Middle East for investigations and exchanges, with hopes of seeking cooperation to energize each other, and achieving win-win results based on consensus.
It is worth mentioning that an episode in the meeting helped to bring about a face-to-face conversation between a Shenzhen company and Mr. Dawood. In the meeting, Mr. Dawood showed interest in a flexible display on the table, designed by Royole Corporation. After the arrangement by the secretariat, Mr. Dawood paid a visit to Royole Corporation and its plant the next day and had a deep talk with Liu Zihong, the founder, for more than three hours.
