China's civil aviation industry expects to transport 80 million passenger trips during the upcoming 2024 Spring Festival travel rush, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China on Monday.
This year's travel rush will last for 40 days from Jan 26 to March 5. The daily average passenger volume may hit a record high of 2 million.
This anticipated flow of travelers will be accompanied by an average of 16,500 flights per day, ensuring seamless transportation for the entire nation.
With the convergence of family visits, student migrations, work-related travels, and leisure tourism, the "homecoming plus vacation" trend is set to dominate this year's travel patterns. The most popular destinations will be in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
Additionally, tourist numbers are expected to significantly increase in popular destinations such as cities of Sanya and Haikou, both in the country's southernmost island province of Hainan, as well as in northern cities of winter tourism hotspots.
The Spring Festival travel rush will create a short-term peak in outbound tourism. Neighboring countries in East Asia and Southeast Asia are projected to be popular destinations during this period, catering to the travel demands of Chinese tourists. Furthermore, international visits for family reunions and studying abroad are expected to experience growth.
To ensure a smooth and successful Spring Festival travel rush, the CAAC has meticulously planned and implemented measures in aviation safety, increased transportation capacity, and dedicated service provision. These preparations aim to guarantee a high level of passenger satisfaction and maintain the highest standards of flight safety.
With the 2024 Spring Festival holiday taking place from Feb 10 to 17, and adjusted working days on Feb 4 and 18, the Chinese people are eagerly anticipating to embark on memorable journeys and reunite with loved ones during this extended break.
