U.S. business entities expect more positive China-U.S. economic cooperation 2024/3/8 source: Print

Leading figures with U.S. market entities are looking forward to deeper and more active economic and trade cooperation with China with little impact from political tensions.

Speaking with China Global Television Network (CGTN), prominent figures with financial firms and local business cooperation centers said political factors have been hampering the U.S. business community's desire for effective cooperation between the two countries.

From a commercial pragmatic perspective, the markets of both countries want to achieve mutual success, and deliberate restrictions based on geopolitical intentions will only hurt both sides, according to the interviewees.

"U.S. investors want as much free trade with China as possible. Those two markets, they're friendly, but unfortunately, there's too much political banter between the two nations, and that really takes away from any of us as investors getting involved in the markets the way that we want to," said Jay Woods, chief global strategist at Freedom Capital Markets.

"The business community is very practical, they just want to improve their economic lives, which in turn improves their whole well-being and their family life, their children's future, and all of that. So, I always like to think of it as being your business partner, if something happens to you it will affect me badly. So therefore, if there’s a good working relationship it’s good for both of us," said Wellington Chen, executive director of the Chinatown Partnership Local Development Corporation.
