In an effort to enable the SCO Demonstration Area (SCODA) to move faster to expand capacity and improve performance, and promote solid progress in local economic and trade cooperation between Shandong and SCO member states, Shandong Province has recently rolled out 23 exceptionally helpful measures to facilitate the SCODA’s efforts to make solid advances, score tangible results, become more beautiful and gain an increase in reputation.
As indicated in related measures, Shandong will support the SCODA in holding major events under the SCO framework and move faster to see that the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade will begin operation. Multiple efforts will be made to promote local economic and trade cooperation with SCO member states. These efforts will include supporting the SCODA in establishing overseas operation centers and frontier cooperation parks, accelerating the building of the SCO Customs Promotion Center to further facilitate custom clearance for cross-border e-commerce, and trying out policies such as duty exemption on featured commodities from SCO member states as well as countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative when prescribed quotas are not met. Furthermore, Shandong will create large models for industrial and supply chains to promote economic and trade cooperation between SCO member states, apply for dedicated lines for cross-border e-commerce data, and strive to pilot cross-border financial policies among other measures to enhance on a continual basis the performance of the China-SCO Comprehensive Service Platform for Local Economic and Trade Cooperation.
