As extreme summer heat in Europe unleashed demands for cooling equipment, Chinese home appliance companies have gained many overseas purchase intentions with their upgraded products at the 140th edition of the China Import and Export Fair, or Canton Fair.

Their optimized designs and technologies cater to the needs of European residents, which they learned about during years of presence in relevant countries.

A Greek purchaser who has long engaged in the sales of home appliances in Europe said that European residents are getting more fastidious about the appearances and new technologies of household appliances.

He said he was impressed by new designs in air conditioners in China, including TCL's wind panel with 360-degree airflow.

"Recently, TCL has been making a lot of new products, especially for the European market that have been really well. They have some new designs, especially the 360 new panel, but they are also making bigger progress in heat pump systems, with new capacities and new technologies," said the Greek purchaser.

A Polish buyer who has worked in the air-conditioning industry for years said that Chinese brands on the European market have mature technical standards and can precisely satisfy requirements of locals.

"New products, new challenges, but I'm sure that Chinese producers can meet them. So it's quite obvious that Chinese brands can meet the European requirement," said the Polish buyer.

"Through this window (Canton Fair), we can accommodate more new opportunities. It is a very good platform, where we can communicate with the customers, so that we could learn each other's needs and we could decide what products and solutions to provide, so we could better satisfy local markets and local users' needs," said Ren Sha, an exhibitor.

The 140th edition of the Canton Fair opened to visitors in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province on Thursday, with more than 30,000 exhibiting companies and about 340,000 overseas buyers expected to attend.

Serving as a barometer and wind vane of China's foreign trade, this year marks the fair's 70th anniversary, and the autumn fair features innovation, intelligence, greater specialization and higher quality.
The event runs in three phases from Oct. 15 to Nov. 4.
