Erenhot, a major land port in north China's Inner Mongolia, logged robust growth in China-Europe freight train trips in the first half of 2023.

The port handled over 1,524 China-Europe freight trains from January to June this year, up 21.2 percent year on year.

The border authorities have streamlined custom clearance process to improve efficiency.

"It takes about 20 minutes for each train to pass through customs, and the longest does not exceed 30 minutes. We are providing better service to contribute to fast development of port economy," said Wei Wei, a border police officer.

The Erenhot Port is the largest land port between China and Mongolia, through which 68 China-Europe freight train routes link China with more than 60 regions of over 10 countries, including Germany, Poland, Russia and Belarus.

Since the port launched its China-Europe freight train service in 2013, it has handled over 12,600 China-Europe freight trains to date.

More than 11 million tons of goods with a value of 27.82 billion U.S. dollars were sent by 1,267,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers.

In the first half of the year, there were 3,850 China-Europe fright trains entering and leaving the country through Inner Mongolia.
