China's booming computing power industry has taken shape and is playing a big role in promoting integration of the Internet, big data and AI technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Monday.

Officials of the Ministry said at a press briefing that in the era of digital economy, computing power is penetrating into all fields of production and life at a faster pace, like government affairs, transportation and medical care.

According to calculations by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the scale of China's core computing power industry reached 1.8 trillion yuan (251 billion U.S. dollars) in 2022. In other words, every 1 yuan invested in computing power will drive economic growth of 3 to 4 yuan in GDP.

The ministry said it will introduce new policies to promote the high-quality development of computing power infrastructure and enhance the comprehensive supply capacity of computing power.
