U.S. consumer credit continues to rise in November 2023/1/10 source: Print

WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. consumers continued their credit binge in November, as borrowing approached 28 billion U.S. dollars.

According to U.S. Federal Reserve data released Monday, that was lower only by a hair than the increase of 29.1 billion U.S. dollars in October.

The figure was a 7.1 percent jump over the same time last year, down only slightly from the previous month's 7.4 percent annual rise.

The number was higher than expectations from economists surveyed by Refinitiv, who predicted a monthly uptick of 25 billion U.S. dollars.

The Fed also reported that credit from student loans, auto loans, and credit cards rose 7.1 percent yearly.
