"Lilo & Stitch" leads N. American box office for 2nd consecutive weekend 2025/6/2 source: Print

LOS ANGELES, June 1 (Xinhua) -- "Lilo & Stitch," the live-action reimagining of Disney's 2002 animated classic, held onto the top spot at the North American box office with an estimated 63 million U.S. dollars in its second weekend, according to data released Sunday by measurement firm Comscore.

The film has grossed 280.1 million dollars in North America, pushing its global total to 610.8 million dollars as of Sunday.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp, "Lilo & Stitch" is a wildly funny and deeply touching tale of a lonely Hawaiian girl and a fugitive alien who helps mend her broken family.

Paramount's action thriller "Mission: Impossible -- The Final Reckoning," starring Tom Cruise, remained in second place with 27.3 million dollars. After two weekends, the film has grossed 122.6 million dollars in North America.

Debuting in third place was Sony's martial arts drama "Karate Kid: Legends," starring Jackie Chan and Ben Wang, with a solid opening of 21 million dollars.
