Exports of large ships via Qingdao Port surged 49% last year 2025/2/28 source: International daily Print

Data from Qingdao Customs indicate that exports of large ships via Qingdao Port amounted to more than 8.6 billion yuan, surging 49% year on year, and green ships comprised nearly 40%.

Many large ships are being built simultaneously in the dockyard of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao. Workers are testing a 210,000 tons-level LNG dual-fuel bulk carrier, which is newly undocked. “The new generation of low-carbon environmentally friendly ships, which are independently developed by us, are warmly favored by the market.” said Yin Haijun, the general manger assistant in the company. He added, “In 2024, we delivered 21 ships, whose deadweight capacity amounted to more than 3.2 million tons, and the new shipbuilding orders surpassed the mark of 10 billion yuan for a second consecutive year. Our orders in hand include more than 60 ships, over 90% of which are new energy-powered.”  (Liu Lanxing)
