The Shandong Provincial Government recently held a press conference themed “Shandong is Taking Actions to Serve Multinationals”, As announced in the conference, the 6th Qingdao Multinationals Summit is near at hand. To date, 179 Global Fortune 500 enterprises have funded 412 projects in Qingdao, and nearly 40% of foreign-invested enterprises in Shandong Province are located in Qingdao. Last year, Qingdao received USD570 mln in funding from 21 projects of Global Fortune Enterprises.

In the industrial sphere, Qingdao prioritizes developing the “10+1” innovation-driven industrial system, the “4+4+2” modern marine industrial system and top ten modern service sectors to further improve the orientation and segments of investment attraction, and push ahead with cooperation with multinationals in a pragmatic way and on the basis of mutual benefit. For example, AstraZeneca’s project in Qingdao will fill the gap in a multinational pharmaceutical company’s manufacturing presence in Shandong Province. After put into operation, the project will become an inhalation aerosol manufacturing and supply base featuring intelligent operations, a large capacity and a full range of products, and strive to blossom into a “zero-carbon factory” providing strong impetus to the implementation of the “Healthy China” Initiative.  (Liu Lanxing)
