During the May Day holiday, more than 170,000 passengers did "travel Qingdao from the sea" tours, underscoring marine tourism as a driver for high-quality growth and industry transformation in coastal areas.
Shinan district, the central hub for Qingdao's marine tourism, has recently been designated as a provincial-level modern marine industry cluster, signaling new opportunities for integrated, high-quality development.
This summer, concertgoers in Qingdao have the chance to watch performances from sightseeing cruises. In May, multiple tours are available, with Qingdao Tourism Group offering a special "sunset cruise" that combines live music with a coastal voyage.
Additionally, Shinan district launched a "follow the concert to travel" campaign, spotlighting scenic routes to landmarks like Qingdao's iconic Zhanqiao Pier, Badaguan area, and Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center. This initiative also provides comprehensive travel tips and exclusive hotel packages, creating a model that integrates live entertainment, sea sightseeing, and accommodations. This strategy turns concert-driven crowds into ongoing engagement with marine tourism.
Shinan hosts 12 A-level scenic spots, 20 star-rated hotels, and rich marine research and heritage resources. It offers 19 signature sea routes and 33 types of water-based activities, ranging from boat tours to yachting. Seasonal themes — spring flower viewing, summer beer festivals, autumn tours, and winter seagull watching — keep the attractions dynamic throughout the year.
Looking ahead, Shinan plans to further expand marine cultural tourism, launch new projects, and solidify its role as a national leader in marine tourism and a key part of an international coastal resort destination.
