In the morning, visitors come to the Qingdao Municipal Museum for an exhibition with exquisite “passports” in their hands. These “passports” are not for traveling abroad, but for collecting unique stamps. “I will try hard to follow routes on the 'passports' and finish collecting all stamps so that I seem to see the whole history of Qingdao.” Said Li Jingyi, a visitor from China Ocean University.

As a national historically and culturally famous city, Qingdao boasts profound culture and abundant heritage sites.

The “Exploration in Qingdao” program is intended to find out more about cultural sites that remain despite the vicissitudes of time, including Tianzhu Mountain inscriptions on precipices, the ruins of the Great Wall of the ancient Qi state and the former site of Sanlihe. Jiaozhou Yangko is practiced on campus, and Mantis Boxing has been passed on from generation to generation at the foot of Laoshan Mountain.

By the end of 2025, a number of handcrafted products such as Jiaozhou Paper-cutting, Jimo Lacework, Pingdu Straw Plaiting and Daou Bird Cages, which epitomize the memory of Qingdao, have generated a total output value of more than RMB 50 bln.

A century-old “red-painted house” on Guangxi Road rises as a new sensation among young people thanks to its creative combination with artist IP. Following protective renovations, 52 historical buildings in the “Bo Luo You Zi, Shi Er Jie” block has re-opened to citizens and tourists.

When tradition encounters technology and performances, Xun Meng Cang Hai, a musical on the history of navigation, has been played for a total of over 1,000 times,  the panoramic show Hai Shang You Qingdao (Qingdao By the Sea), the first large-scale tourist artistic performance in Qingdao, help unleash new vitality on a continual basis for the culture-tourism integration.  (Liu Shuo)
