JD.COM’S new flagship store in a bustling business area in Shenzhen is off to a flying start, raking in sales of more than 20 million yuan (US$2.77 million) in the three days after it officially opened last week, according to the e-commerce giant.

JD.com opened its second flagship store in Shenzhen, a more-than-10,000-square-meter home appliances and electronics store in the bustling Huaqiangbei on Friday.

According to JD.com, the three-story store aims to become an offline product exhibition center, a user experience center, and a service center for the 16.9 million JD.com members in Shenzhen.

The e-commerce behemoth, which competes with Alibaba Group Holding and budget online retailer Pinduoduo in China’s online retail market, offers a vast selection of more than 200,000 types of 3C (computer, communication, and consumer electronics) products, home appliances, and household items.

Huaqiangbei, sometimes referred to as the “No. 1 electronic street in China,” is well known for having a strong business climate, consistent foot traffic, and a vibrant atmosphere of technological innovation, which makes it the first choice for many firms looking to make a foray into Shenzhen.

The launch of JD.com’s new flagship store further demonstrated the firm’s ambition to boost offline growth and omnichannel presence in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the retailer said.
