AN opening ceremony for the summer shopping season was held at the Guangming Culture and Art Center on Tuesday, launching a series of initiatives aimed at driving consumer spending in Guangming District.
During the ceremony, government officials announced the distribution of digital yuan vouchers worth more than 1 million yuan (US$138,145) to local residents to stimulate consumer spending.
The event highlighted various sectors, including dining, entertainment, shopping, tourism, and leisure. The local government, in collaboration with shopping centers such as Daqianli, Blue Whale World, Wanda Plaza, and the Rainbow Department Store, unveiled a coffee map and a foodie map that include a variety of attractive deals.
Highlighting cultural and tourism development, the event also promoted Guangming’s rich tourism resources and cultural performances. Ten local brands were introduced, each highlighting their unique history, superior quality, and local characteristics. Furthermore, tourism maps detailing cultural routes, ecological and agricultural routes, and industrial experience routes were unveiled.
The culinary section featured distinctive dishes crafted from local farm produce, including flavors popular among Cantonese residents and overseas Chinese people. A highlight of the event was the “Pigeon King Food Festival,” which celebrated the essence of pigeon cuisine in Guangming and offered a delightful experience for food lovers.
