THE renovation of the west wing of Terminal 3 at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport has been completed after six months of intensive work, doubling the airport’s capacity for international and cross-border passengers to approximately 10 million annually, according to an airport source.
The expansion project added more than 7,000 square meters to the waiting and boarding areas for international and cross-border flights and increased the number of boarding gates from nine to 15. Previously, international and cross-border flight operations were concentrated in the east wing of Terminal 3.
Data show that the airport has already handled 2.8 million international and cross-border passengers this year, marking a 160.1% increase compared to last year and recovering to 85.2% of the airport’s pre-pandemic passenger volume in 2019. The number of international flights at the airport is expected to continue rising.
