LUOHU Checkpoint recently announced the establishment of a multilingual volunteer service team during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Luohu Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cultural Month, a move aimed at enhancing the experience of international travelers passing through the checkpoint.

A partnership between Luohu Checkpoint, the Luohu Volunteer Association, and the Luohu Service Center for Hong Kong People, the team is composed of police officers and Hong Kong volunteers. Their goal is to serve both domestic and international travelers by providing assistance in multiple dialects and languages, including English, French, and German.

At the ceremony, it was also revealed that the Luohu Checkpoint Volunteer Service Station would be upgraded into a multilingual volunteer service station, making it the first of its kind at a Shenzhen border checkpoint.

As the country’s second-busiest land checkpoint, a growing number of travelers have passed through Luohu Checkpoint this year, following the National Immigration Administration’s implementation of new entry policies designed to enhance convenience.

To date, more than 38.26 million travelers have passed through Luohu Checkpoint, including 470,000 international travelers, consistently setting new records since the checkpoint resumed operations after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Established in 2018, the volunteer service station is located on the second floor of Luohu Checkpoint’s Departure Hall. Over the years, Luohu Checkpoint has leveraged volunteer resources to provide a wide range of services, including consultations on immigration laws and regulations, general assistance, and first aid.

On average, the service station engages 7,000 volunteers annually. To date, these volunteers have served over 23 million travelers, both domestic and international, and have assisted in saving the lives of nearly 50 travelers.
