THE Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) held its ninth graduation ceremony for over 1,500 postgraduate students at its campus in Longgang District on Saturday.

According to the university, the majority of graduates have received offers from renowned enterprises such as Ping An, Google, Tencent, and BYD. Some will pursue roles as postdoctoral researchers or researchers at universities and research institutes like Stanford University, the National University of Singapore, and Tsinghua University.

Xu Yangsheng, president of CUHK-Shenzhen, gave a speech during the ceremony, offering his congratulations. Xu emphasized the importance of continuous learning and thinking in a changing world.

“I hope your time at CUHK-Shenzhen has been meaningful. I hope you have broadened your understanding, gained inspiring experiences, and discovered fresh insights about the world and yourself... As you prepare to leave this campus to embark on your new journey today, remember to carry with you the courage to explore, the spirit to innovate, and the drive to make a difference,” Xu said.

Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou, a special guest who delivered a speech during the ceremony, said, “Knowledge is not innate, nor is it static. Only by cultivating a proactive mindset for exploration and breaking free from existing cognitive constraints can one persistently approach it.”

During the ceremony, Ching Pak-chung, former vice president of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, stated that innovation goes beyond technological breakthroughs or inventions. It involves efforts to enhance the quality of life, drive economic growth, improve social welfare, and support sustainable development.

He stated, “Your value and achievements are not defined by titles, wealth, or the number of papers authored, but by the positive changes you bring to society and the profound impact you have on others.”
