THE consul general of Saudi Arabia in Guangzhou, Abdullah Zafer H. Bin Abiyah, has underscored the importance of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Shenzhen.

During an exclusive interview with Shenzhen Daily recently, he praised the burgeoning relationship, which includes significant investment agreements and a direct flight route.

In 2024, Saudi delegations have visited Shenzhen to ink key agreements in investment and financial markets. A reciprocal visit by a Shenzhen delegation to Saudi Arabia further has solidified the ties.

“A major milestone of the Saudi-Shenzhen partnership in 2024 was the launch of a direct flight route between Shenzhen and Riyadh. This route is expected to bolster economic, commercial, and cultural relations,” he said.

The consul general highlighted Shenzhen’s allure for Saudi investors, citing the city’s preferential policies for foreign enterprises, its strategic geographical position complemented by sophisticated logistics services, and an open policy framework designed to entice investment.

Moreover, Shenzhen’s vibrant calendar of conferences and exhibitions serves as a magnet for international investment, further solidifying its position as a prime destination for Saudi business interests.

“Regarding my view on Shenzhen’s future development, I believe that there is enormous potential in the near future, such as in the energy sector,” the consul general said.

He added that the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund has already made strides by signing a significant agreement with the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in July this year, and Saudi company Ajlan & Bros is engaged in logistics services in the city.
