IN celebration of art and craftsmanship, the 11th Art Shenzhen and the 14th Shenzhen Arts and Crafts Expo opened their doors to the public Thursday in halls 7 and 8 of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District.

These concurrent events span contemporary art and traditional crafts, offering a visual feast for the audience in the culturally rich Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The arts and crafts expo, which is open to the public free of charge, showcases a treasure trove of artifacts from China.

Visitors can explore a diverse range of categories, including ceramics, lacquerware, silk, wood carvings, metalwork, jade carvings, and classic Chinese furniture.

“Our booth features an array of traditional cloisonné pieces, along with our distinctive cloisonné prints and a variety of cloisonné-inspired cultural and creative products,” Zheng Shihui, a cloisonné artist and manager of Jingzhilan Cultural and Creative Space, told Shenzhen Daily. Cloisonné, an ancient metalworking technique, is a multi-step enamel process used to produce jewelry, vases, and other decorative items.

She added, “The hands-on section at our venue is bustling with activity as many visitors want to try copper-based jewelry enameling. We hope that through this interactive experience, they will cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation for this intangible cultural heritage.”

Now in its 11th year, Art Shenzhen has solidified its position as one of China’s leading contemporary art expos. This year’s edition features six main sections. A total of 86 galleries and institutions from 28 cities worldwide have brought their most exceptional artworks to the fore, providing a dynamic and eclectic artistic journey for attendees.

It is a concentrated display of various forms of art and related design products from home and abroad, including paintings, sculptures, photography, installations, and digital art.

Both exhibitions are set to run until Sunday.
