Ingenious infusion of romantic love songs with idyllic rural scenery adds luster to Qixi Festival gala presented by China Media Group (CMG) on Tuesday to celebrate the Qixi Festival.
The Qixi Festival, which is also referred to as the Chinese Valentine's Day, falls on the 7th day of the 7th month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
It celebrates the 2,000-year-old legend of the annual dating between the mythological figures of the cowherd and the weaver girl.
To celebrate the day, CMG, the country's flagship broadcaster, aired the 2023 Qixi Festival gala on Tuesday night, offering a visual feast and a romantic festive atmosphere for audience nationwide.
Apart from enchanting stage performance, the gala has offered audience a glimpse of picturesque village scenery in Xinyu City, east China's Jiangxi Province and Yunxi County, central China's Hubei Province, which are both important birthplaces of Qixi culture.
The performance "Walking" was filmed in Yunxi County, regarded as the hometown of the cowherd and the weaver girl.
A group of musicians staged an instrumental ensemble including guitar, bass, saxophone, djembe and drum kit, while performers dressing in ethnic minorities costumes sang songs as they walked through farmland with cartoon IP characters "Xiao Qi" and "Xiao Xi".
Another performance, the live singer and the cloud chorus "Sweet Honey", Fu Yingying, the image promotion ambassador of Qingdao, participated in the video collection activity. She sang sweet songs in front of landmarks in Long Beach City, Qingdao's sister city, to celebrate traditional Chinese festivals.
