The New Year's Day and the upcoming Spring Festival holidays have become a traditional peak season for consumption across China.
Flower markets are thriving with people selecting and purchasing flowers that symbolize good luck and fortune.
According to Lyu Jiaxin, a saleswoman of a flower shop in Taiyuan, north China's Shanxi Province, flowers featuring auspicious colors like red dominate the sales and the daily sales of the store are considerable.
"We sell both online and offline simultaneously. Our online sales are at 70 or 80 orders daily," said Lyu.
As the New Year approaches, major business districts in east China's Shanghai are undergoing their holiday shopping season and have launched a wide range of promotion campaigns to attract customers, increase sales and build customer loyalty.
Shanghai's landmark Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall issued nearly 38,000 pieces of shopping coupons, quickly increasing its popularity among local consumers.
"This year, we have offered coupons worth a total of 20 million yuan (around 2.83 million U.S. dollars) to consumers, which could largely raise the overall customer spending in our business district by some 40 percent, and increase the customer flow by 20 percent," said Ren Zhuyi, vice president of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street Investment Development Limited Company.
Traditional winter attractions like hot springs are also popular.
In December alone, hotels and homestays at the Tangquan Hot Spring Resort in Pukou District of Nanjing, the provincial capital of Jiangsu in east China, have received more than 112,000 visitors.
"We just center on the natural endowment of hot springs and combine hot spring tourism with surrounding resources to continuously enrich our tourism products," said Zhang Mengci, an employee at the management office of culture and tourism development under the Tangquan Hot Spring Resort.
