China’s civil aviation industry has entered the 2024 summer flight season since March 31. Qingdao Airport actively supports airlines in ramping up their transport capacity and optimizing flight schedules in an effort to make the boom season busier. In the new season, Qingdao Airport sees a total of 4,661 flights per week, and ranks fourth among its Chinese peers in regard to the weekly increment of flights.
The accessibility of air routes has improved remarkably. Qingdao Airport will cover a growing number of small- and medium-sized destinations and plan to open up six new destinations including Huizhou, Manzhouli, Zhangjiajie, Beihai, Shihezi and Wuyishan. To fully cater to the travel demand of citizens in summer and autumn, the number of domestic destinations will hit 93, 11 up year on year. It will increase the flight frequency for 35 domestic destinations among the existing air routes, and continue to advance the building of a network of air routes featuring a combination of main and feeder lines.
The transport capacity of speedy flights has increased substantially. Guided by the principle of co-building a transport hub, Qingdao will continue to increase the flight frequency for speedy air routes including routes from Qingdao to Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Kunming, Shenyang, Chongqing, Wuhan, Xi’an and Changsha to faster foster new advantages in speedy flights. In the new season, the daily average number of flights from Qingdao to 14 cities including Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen has reached 10 to 23, the transport capacity of speedy flights has enhanced by 10% in total, and flight scheduling has improved dramatically, paving a sound foundation for connecting flights.
