CMG's 8K UHD broadcasting of Paris Olympics brings immersive audiovisual experience to audience 发布日期:2024/8/12 来源:International Daily 打印

China Media Group's (CMG) broadcasting of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, powered by advanced technologies including 8K ultra-high definition (UHD), is bringing an immersive audiovisual experience to viewers around the world.

On Friday, the 8K public signals of the Games' track and field competitions were transmitted via CMG's 8K UHD broadcast vans, or the "Chinese red" broadcast vans, marking a milestone in the Chinese state broadcaster's technical development.
It is also the first time for the vans to produce 8K public signals for the Summer Olympics.
"CMG has attached great importance to the Olympic coverage, and sent its best 8K broadcast van to Paris. We are a team of 40 members, and most of them have taken part in signal production for previous Olympic Games and have rich experience," said Liu Xiaojun, director of CMG's 8K UHD public signal production team.
The CMG technical team in Paris is committed to presenting the innovative technological achievements independently developed by CMG, such as 4K/8K UHD, AI, Audio Vivid, XR and VR, among others in television broadcasting during the Games.
"I'm proud of our 8K broadcasting service this time with our own vans transported by sea to Paris. I participated in the previous two Olympic Games, using foreign equipment. This time we are using our self-developed CMG broadcast vans, with everything, such as the van shell, the core dispatch system and control system, self-developed," said Kang Minjie, a 8K system engineer.
CMG President Shen Haixiong said that the operation of the broadcast vans not only represents another breakthrough for CMG and even Chinese media organizations in broadcasting and reporting the Olympics, but also signifies that China's core telecommunication technologies have reached a world-leading level.
"The Olympics are the stage for excellence for sports, but also they are the stage for excellence in broadcasting and technology. So we're very, very exciting to be partnering with Chinese Media Group, with the CMG in delivering images of the Games in the highest possible standard of the existing technology today, which is 8K. And I'm really excited that the greatest athletes of the world in these fantastic venues here in Paris will really be showcased in China in the best possible way," said Yiannis Exarchos, Olympic Broadcasting Services CEO.
CMG's six live broadcast vans will also provide global audience with 8K UHD signals of the Olympic closing ceremony.
As a leading broadcaster and the international media organization with the most broadcasting rights for the Paris Olympic Games, CMG is set to orchestrate its largest-scale Olympic Games coverage to date.
The Paris Olympic Games runs from July 26 to August 11, followed by the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.
