QINGDAO -- The third Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference was held in Qingdao City of east China's Shandong Province on Oct 23, with the adoption of an action plan on green energy cooperation among countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

It was noted at the conference that in the past 11 years since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed, China has cooperated with more than 100 other countries and regions on green energy projects. The BRI Energy Partnership now includes 34 member states, focusing on topics such as energy security and transition, contributing Chinese solutions to global energy governance reform.
On April 25, 2019, the BRI Energy Partnership was established in Beijing.

"China has contributed over 80 percent of the photovoltaic equipment and 70 percent of the wind power equipment for the global energy low-carbon transition and new energy development, driving the average cost per kilowatt-hour of global wind power and photovoltaic power generation projects down by 60 percent and 80 percent, respectively, over the past decade," said Hu Ming, director of the Belt and Road Energy Partnership Secretariat Office, in an interview with China Central Television on the sidelines of the conference.

According to the newly released action plan, over the next five years, member countries of the BRI Energy Partnership will work together to enhance green energy security capabilities, by engaging in innovative cooperation on key frontier technologies such as hydrogen energy, new energy storage, and advanced nuclear power, explore the establishment of an international cooperation platform for clean energy research, and strengthen capacity-building in the green energy sector.
