QINGDAO -- The coastal city of Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province has seen a growing number of travelers from Macao in recent years, driven by closer cooperation and personnel exchanges between the mainland and Macao.
Direct flights between Qingdao and Macao was launched in August 2018, facilitating the two sides to forge closer ties in economy, trade, tourism, and other sectors.
This year, Qingdao's airport entry-exit ports recorded 40,000 passenger trips between Macao and the mainland, with entries and exits by residents from Macao residents rising by four percent year on year.
Nowadays, Qingdao has become a popular tourist destination for Macao residents with its unique food and culture.
"I'd love to try the seafood, wontons, and barbecue in Qingdao. I also want to take a stroll along Macao Road in Qingdao," said Wong, a tourist from Macao.
In recent years, Macao and Qingdao have held a series of events to promote economic and trade exchanges, including the beer and cultural festival.
"Next, we will enhance economic and trade exchanges between Qingdao and Macao, fostering deeper interaction and cooperation between the two places," said Qu Keshi, deputy director with the Hong Kong and Macao affairs office of Qingdao.
