China Media Group (CMG) hosted a special event to discuss the opportunities arising from China's high-quality development in Chicago on Monday.
Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and CMG president, and Xie Feng, China's Ambassador to the U.S, delivered video addresses at the event called "China in Springtime: Sharing Opportunities with the World Global Dialogue."
Nearly 100 guests participated in the event, discussing topics including the opportunities brought to the world by China's high-quality development, sci-tech innovations, and economic and trade cooperation.
"The cooperation between the U.S. and China as two global superpowers, two global economic powers, this is very important. The more we bridge East and West, the more there's opportunity. And also if we're going to tackle some of the great challenges of our time, you think about the energy transition, you think about healthcare challenges. These sort of problems can only be solved by two great powers working together," Samir Mayekar, managing director of the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Chicago and Chicago's former deputy mayor, told China Central Television (CCTV) in an interview after the event.
"I think it's really impressive that China has come up with a lot of innovations and developments, especially in the area of solar and wind and energy storage, and energy efficiency. Those things we can all work together on," said Pat Quinn, former governor of the U.S. state of Illinois.
At the event, guests from the sci-tech investment sector discussed China's innovations represented by DeepSeek and new energy vehicles.
Teachers and students from U.S. universities including the University of Chicago and the Northwestern University shared their experiences of visiting and studying in China, as well as ideas about promoting exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations with activities such as "China Travel with Chinese Films."
Coverage of the event has been shared by 1,981 mainstream media outlets across 70 countries and regions.
CMG will host similar events in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
