A new rail-sea express launched on Sunday has sped up cargo transportation from Yiwu City in east China's Zhejiang Province to seaports in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
A rail-sea modal train carrying 100 TEUs of household appliances, hardware machinery, daily necessities, and other exports departed from Yiwu, the world's largest small commodity hub, toward Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, on Sunday.
From Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, the goods were then transported to Jebel Ali Port in Dubai through the Middle East sea express route.
With the entry into operation of the new rail-sea express, cargos from Yiwu's warehouses will arrive in Jebel Ali Port in Dubai in 17 days, five days fewer than that before and cutting shipping costs by 18 percent for trading companies.
