China and Russia have enjoyed close economic and trade relations in recent years, according to data from China's Ministry of Commerce.
China has remained Russia's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years.
The annual trade between the two countries reached 227.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2025, exceeding the 200-billion-dollar mark for the third consecutive year.
In the first quarter of 2026, bilateral trade topped 60 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of over 14 percent year on year.
Specifically, traditional sectors, such as energy and agriculture, continued to underpin stable trade development in the first three months of the year.
Meanwhile, high-value sectors, including mechanical and electrical goods and high-tech products, gained larger shares in bilateral trade in the period.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.
At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to China from May 19 to 20.
The two heads of state on Sunday sent congratulatory letters, respectively, to the 10th China-Russia Expo, which opened in Harbin City, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
The expo, running until May 21, covers a total exhibition area of 55,000 square meters and features more than 1,500 Chinese and foreign companies from 46 countries and regions across the world.
Nearly 300 Russian companies are showcasing their products at the expo, and the number of Russian buyers is expected to exceed 5,000.
Launched in 2014, the expo now serves as the highest-level, largest, and most influential institutional platform for economic and trade cooperation between China and Russia.
