China's home cooling appliances have seen a significant surge in exports during the first half of the year amid frequent global heatwaves, according to the General Administration of Customs (GAC) on Tuesday.
Home appliance exports from the country amounted to 360.96 billion yuan (about 53 billion U.S. dollars) over this period.
"In the first half of the year, China's exports of home cooking appliances, including air conditioners, electric fans and refrigerators, totaled 107.91 billion yuan. Among all the exported home appliances, self-owned brands accounted for one-quarter, with exports of these brands growing by 21.2 percent in the first half. Specifically, exports of self-branded TVs, refrigerators and washing machines all maintained double-digit growth," said Lyu Daliang, spokesperson of the GAC and director of the Department of Statistics and Analysis.
