The northern Chinese city of Tianjin has seen a peak in both inbound and outbound travel so far in the current summer vacation season.

At the Tianjin International Cruise Home Port, thousands of tourists arrive on each cruise call to travel around China. Meanwhile, at the Tianjin Binhai International Airport, flights to and from destinations like the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Russia have been added and multiplied based on market demand, registering a month-on-month flight count increase of 24 percent.
According to statistics from the Tianjin immigration authorities, Tianjin's cruise ports have cleared over 90,000 inbound and outbound passenger trips since the start of the 2026 summer season.
Driven by China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy for travelers from some other countries, the number of foreign travelers entering and leaving Tianjin city has grown by nearly 15 percent year on year.
China's 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit policy allows citizens from 57 eligible other countries holding valid passports and onward tickets to a third country or region (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) to stay in 24 permitted Chinese provinces and municipalities for up to 10 days without a visa.
