FUZHOU -- People across China are engaging in festive shopping spree for the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on January 22.
Strong festivity blankets markets, stalls and stands hither and thither, which are beaming with distinctive specialties, delicacies and favorites.
Traditional food, snacks and dainties are luring the ardent consumers. In many outdoor markets, there are fantastic performances featuring traditional Chinese culture events and folklores. Dragon and lion dances, stilt walking have added luster to the festive celebrations, augmenting people with sense of exhilaration.
"We can watch traditional folk art performance here and have a taste of local refreshments. I’m happy and feel comfortable when we eat those snacks. I feel like returning to my childhood," said Liu Sha, a resident of Chengdu City, southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
Many cities are taking full advantage of the Spring Festival to boost local economy by launching splashy sales promotion campaigns.
