QINGDAO - The China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA) in the eastern Chinese coastal city of Qingdao has handled over 2,700 China-Europe freight trains in five years, according to the Qingdao Customs on Saturday, which marked the fifth anniversary of the construction of the SCO demonstration area in Qingdao.
Since June 10, 2018, the Qingdao Customs has handled 2,765 China-Europe freight trains to and from the SCODA, with an average annual growth rate of about 35 percent.
During the five years, the trains carried 227,000 twenty-foot equivalent units of cargo for imports and exports, with a total weight of over 1.9 million tons.
In the first five months of this year, local customs handled a total of 389 China-Europe freight trains arriving and departing from the SCODA, an increase of 9 percent year on year.
