Gun violence and shooting incidents in the United States had caused nearly 20,000 deaths nationwide this year as of Sunday, according to the latest data from the Gun Violence Archive.
Data showed that gun-related incidents involved 19,808 deaths and 16,897 injuries in the United States as of Sunday.
Among all the victims, 827 are minors under 17 years old, and among all the injuries, 2,179 ones are in the same age range.
According to the data, there were 311 mass shootings in the country this year as of Sunday, meaning they are incidents involving four or more victims shot or killed with the gunner excluded, .
The United States, with less than five percent of the world's population, owns 46 percent of the world's civilian guns.
The U.S. ranks first in the world in terms of both individual gun ownership and cases of mass shooting incidents.
