QINGDAO -- The shipbuilding service in Qingdao Haixi Bay, east China's Shandong Province is in full swing.
"On the left side is the 5,500-TEU container ship that we are building for CMA CGM Group. Another dock over there is a 210,000 deadweight tonnes (dwt) LNG dual-fuel bulk carrier under construction. At present, our company has orders for 48 ships, which have been arranged until the second half of 2026," said Yin Haijun, operational director of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
Due to the recovery of the shipping industry, China's shipbuilding industry recorded sound development in the first half of the year, with output, new orders and holding orders ranking the world's first.
New orders, a major indicator of the shipbuilding industry, rose 67.7 percent year on year to 37.67 million deadweight tons, with a global market share of 72.6 percent.
