The Shanghai Grand Opera House officially opened its doors Saturday, coinciding with the launch of the 25th China Shanghai International Arts Festival.

Located along the Huangpu River, the architectural landmark resembles an unfurled Chinese fan.
The opening concert, called Shanghai Grand Opera House and Friends, brought together leading Chinese and international artists performing a selection of classic works from both China and abroad.
The arts festival features nearly 1,100 performances and exhibitions, attracting nearly 20,000 artists, representatives of relevant institutions and experts from over 80 countries and regions.
