Indian vlogger shares personal experience of living through COVID-19 pandemic in China 2023/2/3 source: International Daily Print

An Indian professor in China shared her personal experiences of living through COVID-19 in China over the past three years, hailing China's effective measures in protecting people's lives and looking forward to a wonderful Chinese New Year that started on January 21.

Professor Poorva Sharma currently works at Luzhou Vocational and Technical College in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Sharma and her family members started to work and live in China seven years ago, so they have experienced China's three-year fight against COVID-19. During this period, Sharma also gave birth to a baby safely.

In early December last year, China refined its dynamic zero-COVID policy, and people's life gradually returned to normal. As the Chinese Lunar New Year -- a Year of the Rabbit -- arrived, Sharma visited a local market to do some shopping for the Lunar New Year, celebrating the Lunar New Year with her family members and extended her best wishes for the year ahead.

The full transcript of her vlog for the China Global Television Network (CGTN) is as follows:

"Hello! I am Poorva Sharma, working as a Professor in Luzhou City of Sichuan Province. I have been living here in China for the past seven years with a family of two kids."

"In the last three years, China has effectively managed its severity, mortality and incidence rate at the world's lowest level. China has taken the long run and saved millions of lives."

"Personally, I witnessed many changes in the strict measures and prevention policies during the outbreak. In May 2020, we moved to Luzhou for work and it was very impressive for me that all officials helped us a lot and did a very hard work for us. At that time, I was pregnant also during the epidemic time and I was a little worried about my situation. But my employers and doctors helped me a lot in all possible ways."

"I'm so excited after shifting the dynamic zero-COVID policy as people's lives in Luzhou are going back to normal as before the pandemic. As you can see, a lot of people around here are very busy in taking photos, doing shopping and playing, etc. People are looking forward to their New Year and buying necessary groceries and things for the Spring Festival."

"Very happy New Year and best wishes! I wish this new Year of the Rabbit will bring a lot of happiness, success and love for all! Very happy New Year!"
