Various spare-time activities, held by museums, art studios and other agencies, have enriched children's leisure styles in Shanghai.

A science fair was hosted by the Shanghai Natural History Museum to introduce aquatic species and demonstrate technologies used to clean creeks to school age children.
The fair also featured experts sharing their views and achievements on water protection.
The museum said it carefully designed all the content on display to make it an attractive choice for families.
"My child has long been interested in biological conservation," said a parent.
Ge Zhiyuan, director of the science fair project at the Shanghai Natural History Museum, said they would learn about what children are interested in one year ahead of activities like the fair.
"We began to choose the topic around one year earlier by learning about the popular topics among the public," Ge said.
Many parents have expressed interest in these sorts of events for children, and the museum said it is gearing up for more.
Tang Xianhua, director of the Exhibition and Education Center at the Shanghai Natural History Museum, said her museum also invites scientists to give a lecture to children.
"Today we hold an activity enabling children to meet with scientists face to face, and we call the educational activity brand 'Ye Hai Zi (free children).' It is popular among families with children aged 3 to 6 and we hold it every year." said Tang.
Besides attending those free activities, many parents are eager to put money towards developing their children's hobbies like painting.
At an art studio in downtown Shanghai, at least a dozen parents and children come here to take painting courses every day.
"There are many kinds of classes such as sketching, oil painting and traditional Chinese painting. And my child prefers traditional Chinese painting class," said a parent.
Such classes are not cheap, not to mention the cost of all the art supplies. However, plenty of parents would like to pay for the classes for their children.
