Folk culture-themed train ride amazes tourists in northeast China 2024/1/5 source: International Daily Print

A culture-themed train ride in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province has presented a tapestry of folk custom and ice-snow enchantment to the tourists.

Running from Harbin to Mohe -- the northernmost city in China -- on the first day of 2024, the train carriages were decked with iconic elements of northeast folk culture, such as "Dongbei Dahua," a typical northeast floral pattern in signature red and green colors.
Passengers on board engaged in immersive activities such as window paper-cutting and dumpling making, and tasting northeastern specialties such as frozen persimmons and frozen pears. They also joined "Yang'ge" dance, a rural folk dance popular in Northeast China.
"This features intense local characteristics, and lures more tourists to Mohe. I think it's excellent and jubilant, dramatizing the hospitality of our northeasterners," said a tourist.
"Previously, I only saw such colorful floral winter jackets on video posts online, not in person," said another tourist.
"The Harbin Railway Station provides a special waiting area for passengers taking the northeast folk culture-themed train, and organizes them to check tickets in advance according to practical needs. As for the highway-railway transportation, we have opened such one-stop service to facilitate tourists to the Snow Town and the Yabuli Ski Resort," said Liu Jian, head of the passenger department with the Harbin Railway Station.
