Local hotel operators in the Pacific Island nation of Nauru have extended a warm welcome to Chinese visitors on Tuesday, the day after the country announced it recognized the one-China principle and severed so-called "diplomatic relations" with Taiwan.
The Republic of Nauru is located in the central Pacific Ocean and consists of an independent coral reef island and surrounding waters, with its tropical scenery making it a good place for potential tourists to come and unwind.
Members of the local tourist industry say they now look forward to Chinese tourists traveling to the country, promising them picturesque views on their tranquil island setting.
"We have clean rooms. It's an ocean view room where you can see the sea. The seas is beautiful, and [we] welcome Chinese visitors to stay in our hotel," said Mouten, a receptionist at a local hotel.
