Ports in east China's financial hub of Shanghai saw the arrivals of 69 international cruise ships with 210,000 passengers onboard in the first three months of this year, respectively up 3.3 times and 15.1 times over the previous quarter of October to December 2023, according to the latest official data released by the Shanghai Customs.
Over the past year since the post-pandemic resumption of international cruise travel in Shanghai, the mega city's ports have received 157 international cruise ships, carrying approximately 270,000 passengers.
In particular, China's first domestically built large cruise ship Adora Magic City has completed 41 inbound and outbound trips, carrying 154,000 passengers.
The Adora Magic City is 323.6 meters long, has a gross weight of 135,500 tons, and can accommodate up to 5,246 passengers with a total of 2,125 guest rooms, according to its builder, the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS).
