Restaurant offers free meals to those in need 2024/5/31 source: International Daily Print

A restaurant in Nanchang City, the capital of east China's Jiangxi Province, is offering free meals to people in need.

When they walk in, they simply ask for "set meal A".
This code for a free meal allows them to receive food without feeling embarrassed about not having money to pay.
The sign on the front entrance says: If you have been strapped for money lately, come to us and order the free-of-charge set-meal A. May you help those in trouble when you are out of the woods.
The set meal consists of two servings of meat, two servings of vegetables, two bowls of soup, and unlimited rice. Diners are also allowed to pack the leftovers and take them home.
"The restaurant has been in operation for 18 years in this neighborhood. Over the past decade, we have met a lot of people who needed our favor. We offer them some food just to help. Last year, I considered creating a set meal for those in need. They can just go right in and order this set meal without paying. In this way, they can get some free food without sacrificing their dignity," said Liu Baohua, restaurant owner.
Since last July, the restaurant has received nearly 100 customers ordering the set meal A.
Liu said the restaurant would continue offering the set meal as long as it remains in operation and hoped the kindness would be passed on.
"I also hope that when those we have helped get out of trouble, they can pass on this kindness by lending a hand to those in need," Liu said.
