The dreamy combination of Chinese traditional aesthetics and modern fashion settings has put on a wonderful show at the ongoing 2023 Autumn/Winter China Fashion Week in Beijing.
Audience were brought into a poetic melding of culture and fashion as Lan Tian, founder of MoHanYun, showcased his latest collection for the fashion week.
Lan said he draw inspiration from the ancient Chinese classic "Shan Hai Jing" (Classic of Mountains and Seas), which dates back 2,200 years, with traditional decorative patterns and colors conveying a poetic vibe.
"I think Chinese culture has the most diversified colors. Chinese craftsmanship and cultural stories have given us a lot of energy. As designers born in the 1980s, we need to make good designs featuring Chinese culture and tap into Chinese fashion elements," Lan said, who is also an associate professor in art and design at Changchun University of Technology.
Also imbued with Chinese traditional elements, the runway show from the brand A Life On The Left, featured bright-hued fabric, colored by traditional plant dyeing techniques.
Teaming up with Huang Ronghua, the inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of plant dyeing, the brand launched a series of colorful garments with hibiscus red, grenadine red.
With the theme of "Extreme Innovation Travel", the event is scheduled to run from March 25 to 31.
