GENEVA, March 6 (Xinhua) -- The International Skating Union (ISU) announced Monday the winners of the Best World Ice Skating Day Awards 2022 as Indonesia and Mexico emerged from 25 nominees to win the contest for the first time.

The ISU celebrated its first-ever World Ice Skating Day (WISD) on December 4, 2022, with 170 ice rinks in 47 countries and regions worldwide all participating. The Best WISD 2022 contest was set up to reward the most successful WISD actions.

Indonesia, which organized the WISD in nine cities and welcomed 3,600 participants, won the 500+ participants category, while Mexico won the 500- category.

Canada's Ice Academy of Montreal also won the Best WISDance 2022 Award for their signature choreography created by children and skaters of the club.
