JERUSALEM, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Israel's State Cup holders Hapoel Jerusalem achieved a 64-55 home win against Greek side AEK Athens in the FIBA Basketball Champions League quarterfinals on Tuesday night.

The win at the Pais Arena in Jerusalem gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series, with the second game set to take place in Athens on April 12.

An impressive first quarter by Jerusalem, led by Speedy Smith and Levi Randolph, gave the Israeli side a 26-6 advantage.

Isaiah Miles' 3-pointers and free throws by Vlado Jankovic helped the visitors cut the deficit in the second quarter to 24-36 at halftime.

Kenny Williams inspired AEK to continue the momentum, and the margin was minimized to 45-46 before the third quarter ended 49-45 for Jerusalem with a 3-pointer by Khadeen Carrington. Smith scored some crucial points in the last quarter to ensure Jerusalem the win.

Smith had a game-high 20 points, while Randolph added 12 points for Jerusalem. Williams scored a team-high 18 points for AEK.
