TORONTO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Zach LaVine scored a game-high 39 points to help the Chicago Bulls erase a 19-point deficit against the Toronto Raptors in Wednesday night's 109-105 victory.

Teammate DeMar DeRozan added 23 points in the single-elimination play-in game, while big man Nikola Vucevic had a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Down 66-47 with nine minutes left in the third quarter, the game seemed out of reach for the visiting Bulls. By the end of the quarter, the Raptors' lead was cut to single digits at 81-72. At the six-minute mark of the fourth quarter, the game was tied at 91.

Bulls head coach Billy Donovan was impressed with his team's resiliency in the third quarter to stay in the game. "It was great. They were all talking about getting it down to ten, going one possession at a time," said Donovan after the game. "I give them a lot of credit for having the toughness to get back into the game."

Donovan also credited the performance of LaVine, who scored 30 of his 39 points in the second half, including 17 in the key third quarter. "He was phenomenal. What he did at the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth was extraordinary and gave us life and hope," said Donovan.

The Bulls also benefited from poor free throw shooting from the Raptors. Toronto made just 18 free throws on 36 attempts (50 percent), compared to the Bulls who also scored 18 on an efficient 22 attempts (82 percent) from the charity stripe.

With the win, Chicago eliminated Toronto from playoff contention and will face the No. 7 Miami Heat on Friday in the final round of the play-in tournament. The winner will earn the No. 8 seed and face the No. 1 ranked Milwaukee Bucks in the opening round of the playoffs on Sunday.
