Myanmar's Lotus silk weaving its way into high-end fashion 发布日期:2023/9/28 来源:International Daily 打印

Lotus silk, a type of textile produced using lotus stalk fibers in Myanmar, is weaving its way into the international garment industry as one of the world's most expensive fabrics.

The silk is originated in Inle Lake in Myanmar's Shan State, the second largest lake in the country.
To make the silk, locals need to first collect a unique type of lotus from the lake, then extract fibers from the lotus stalks to weave them by hand.
It takes over ten thousand lotus stalks to make one piece of clothing.
The labor-intensive process has made lotus silk one of the most expensive fabric in the world.
