In winter, crystal clear snow and ice has arrived in time. Currently, ski fields and skating rinks of all sizes in Qingdao start to do their utmost to showcase the unique charm of winter tourism. As a result, ice and snow resorts are increasingly visited.

The World Ice Arena in Shinan District, Qingdao is a popular site for citizens to experience the cheerful ice and snow sport and packed with people all day long. In Laoshan District, citizens and tourists go to the skating rink in Guoxin Sports Center, where many large-scale sports events have been held, to try a range of ice sports like speed skating, ice hockey and figure skating in the company of professional coaches. In the Cangmashan Ski Resort located in the West Coast New Area, skiing enthusiasts dive down in succession and their laughters are reverberated amid valleys, and the advanced ski track with remarkable altitude difference make many skiing fans from Shandong and other places satisfy a craving. In the Phoenix Ice and Snow World, the 40,000 square meters snow pack echoes the Voice of Phoenix Grand Theatre, and the newly-built “dragon boat” finds enormous favor with tourists thanks to the imminent lunar new year of the dragon.

The Lotus Mountain Ski Resort, which covers an area of around 190 mu in Jiaozhou, is a large-scale skiing-themed agricultural eco-tourism project, where the lengthened circular skiing track makes citizens and tourists reluctant to leave. Furthermore, the 2024 SCO Pearl Ice and Snow Carnival program has put up not only an outdoor skiing field with more than 10,000 square meters, but also a 600-square-meters indoor skating rink, to provide more options for ice and snow sport enthusiasts.

Ice and snow courses are arranged in schools of Qingdao one after another. Ice-snow sports have become featured sports for the second grade in Shinan District Elementary School while Ningxia Road Elementary School has put its school-based curriculum textbook Yue Dong Bing Shang (Enjoy Ice-snow Sports) into use.
