QINGDAO -- With the help of cross-border e-commerce, false eyelashes factories in Pingdu County, Qingdao City, Shandong Province are creating products tailored to the requirements of global customers.
Around 70 percent of the beauty eyelashes in the global market are actually from Pingdu County of Qingdao.
Chu Peipei is the second-generation to run her family's eyelash business in Pingdu and she is responsible for their overseas market sales. She said their customers are from all over the world.
Wang Xuelei, Chu's husband, was a senior IT engineer for Haier, a renowned supplier of smart home devices in China. In the beginning of 2021, Chu told him that the company was going to transform from trading business to trading and production. She needed him to join the factory.
Diversified markets add much complexity to their management, so Wang made full use of his expertise to build an online management system for the factory's whole production chain, which is also the first of its kind in the domestic eyelash industry.
Chu Congyi, Wang's uncle-in-law, is the founder of the factory and one of the first businessmen in the Pingdu eyelash industry.
He said in earlier years, it was easy to make money by selling their eyelashes and they didn't even need to update their products to meet market demand.
To better understand consumer behaviors, Wang turned to feedback and posts on social media platforms.
He noted that 2024 marks a new chapter for their factory as it has introduced some automatic machines. And their factory will also have a new home in the local industrial park for eyelashes.
The industrial park is set to commence operations officially this June. It is set to represent a stride towards enhancing the eyelash industrial chain through mechanization, informatization, and digitalization. It also means faster delivery of more personalized eyelash designs from China to the world.
