Following the national guidance, Beijing has been improving its payment services for the past month, and the situation has been optimized in multiple consumption scenarios.
At a local cultural and creative product store, signs for payment by scanning code and swiping card are both on the checkout counter.
The owner said her POS machine has just been upgraded.
"Previously, we used to accept two kinds of cards -- Visa and MasterCard. Now, the number has increased to five, including JCB and American Express. Products in my store can be paid by these cards," said Wang Jing, owner of a cultural and creative product store.
Usually, most foreign tourists would like to pay by cash or card. However, with the simplification of card-adding procedure on domestic payment software, more and more foreign visitors are beginning to use mobile payment.
"I found it more convenient, because I can use my own country's debit card. It's really easy for me to link my bank card, and I think it was just three steps. It was really quickly," said an overseas student.
Currently, key places in Beijing, such as large business areas, tourist attractions, leisure facilities, hotels and traffic hubs have been increasing their coverage on terminals that accept overseas bank cards.
"We've greatly enhanced the coverage of POS machines for foreign cards. Now, business areas where a large number of foreigners go such as Solana and Parkview Green Fangcaodi, as well as 66 star-rated hotels have been full covered," said Zhang Guanbin, deputy head of Chaoyang District.
